A St. Louis man has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison after admitting to possessing three firearms despite being a convicted felon. U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey delivered the sentence Wednesday to Derrick Lamar Rodgers, 34, following his guilty plea in May to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Rodgers was arrested on May 24, 2024, by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team while he was wanted on multiple warrants. During his arrest, police found Rodgers carrying a 9mm handgun and plastic baggies containing synthetic cannabinoid in a cross-body satchel. Officers also discovered a shotgun and a stolen Hi-Point 9mm handgun. As a convicted felon, Rodgers is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas Lake told the court that Rodgers’ criminal history includes numerous violent offenses, particularly against women: “atrocious” criminal history filled with violent acts, particularly against women.
Judge Autrey ordered that Rodgers' federal sentence be served concurrently with pending cases in St. Louis Circuit Court as part of an agreement between both parties.
The case was investigated by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas Lake.
