A California man has pleaded guilty to federal charges related to the interstate transportation of stolen property after being implicated in a burglary at a Louisiana warehouse. DeAnthony Blocker entered his plea on August 27, 2025, before a federal court in New Orleans.
According to the indictment, Blocker and others conspired to transport cigarettes stolen during a burglary at a warehouse facility in Metairie, Louisiana, on November 21, 2024. The group traveled out of state and was apprehended in Fort Stockton, Texas the following day while still in possession of the stolen cigarettes. Authorities also linked the group to similar burglaries in North Carolina and Texas earlier in February 2024.
Blocker faces up to 10 years imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000, up to three years of supervised release, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee for each count.
Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson commended several law enforcement agencies for their roles in the investigation. "The Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Knightdale Police Department, Atlanta Police Department, Rockmart Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Fort Stockton Police Department" were recognized for their work. Assistant United States Attorney Paul J. Hubbell is prosecuting the case.
