The United States has sent greetings to the people of Uzbekistan as they mark their Independence Day on September 1. This year, Uzbekistan celebrates 34 years since gaining independence.
"For 34 years, the United States has emphasized Uzbekistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence. The United States is deeply proud of the advancement of our strategic partnership with Uzbekistan, which has promoted trade and business ties between our two countries and led to further cooperation across many fields. We remain appreciative of Uzbekistan’s decision to become a full member of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, its continued cooperation on illegal immigration, and the strong security cooperation between our nations," said the statement from the U.S. Department of State.
The message also highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen relations between the two countries. "As Uzbekistan celebrates its independence, the United States remains committed to expanding the friendship and further promoting prosperity for both the U.S. and Uzbekistan."
