White House submits diplomatic and judicial nominations to Senate

The White House has submitted a list of nominations to the Senate for various diplomatic and judicial positions.

Among the nominees is Tammy Bruce of California, who has been selected to serve as the Deputy Representative of the United States to the United Nations. In this role, she will also act as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Deputy Representative in the Security Council, and concurrently represent the United States at sessions of the UN General Assembly during her tenure.

Brent Christensen of Virginia, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Counselor, has been nominated as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Bangladesh. Sergio Gor of Florida is nominated for Ambassador to India. Stephanie Hallett, also from Florida and a Minister-Counselor in the Senior Foreign Service, is chosen for Ambassador to Bahrain. James Holtsnider from Iowa is named for Ambassador to Jordan, while William Long from Missouri is selected for Ambassador to Iceland.

For financial oversight roles, Stephen Miran of New York has been nominated as a Member of the Board of Governors for the Federal Reserve System for an unexpired fourteen-year term dating from February 1, 2012.

Judicial nominations include Robert P. Chamberlin (Mississippi) for U.S. District Judge in Mississippi's Northern District; Edmund G. LaCour Jr. (Alabama) and Harold D. Mooty III (Alabama) both for U.S. District Judge positions in Alabama’s Northern District; Bill Lewis (Alabama) for U.S. District Judge in Alabama’s Middle District; Jennifer Lee Mascott (Delaware) as Circuit Judge on the Third Circuit; James D. Maxwell II (Mississippi) as U.S. District Judge in Mississippi’s Northern District.

Nominations have also been made for associate judgeships on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia: Stephen F. Rickard, Elana S. Suttenberg, and John Cuong Truong are each nominated for fifteen-year terms.
