President Trump's administration has introduced a new rescissions package valued at $4.9 billion, aimed at reducing wasteful spending and foreign aid. The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released a statement from Greg Sindelar, its Interim President and CEO, in support of this initiative. "We are glad to see this decisive action by the Trump Administration that aims to save taxpayers nearly $5 billion by rescinding wasteful foreign aid and woke international organization funding that violates America First priorities," Sindelar said.
The package is part of ongoing efforts by the administration to cut down on expenditures deemed unnecessary or misaligned with American values. According to AFPI, this move continues President Trump's history of promoting accountability in Washington and prioritizing taxpayer interests.
Pocket rescissions serve as a tool for the executive branch to manage government spending effectively. This latest effort follows previous initiatives, including a $9 billion rescissions package approved by Congress and $3 billion in savings announced earlier this year. Overall, these measures are projected to save taxpayers over $117 billion over the next decade.
Additionally, the One Big Beautiful Bill has already provided $1.5 trillion in mandatory savings, further supporting fiscal responsibility under President Trump's leadership.
