The Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, chaired by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), has scheduled a hearing to address concerns about transparency regarding unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs). The session, titled “Restoring Public Trust Through UAP Transparency and Whistleblower Protection,” will focus on the disclosure practices of federal agencies, including the Department of Defense (DoD) and the intelligence community.
Witnesses expected to testify include Jeffrey Nuccetelli, a U.S. Air Force veteran; Chief Alexandro Wiggins, who has witnessed UAPs; journalist George Knapp; and Dylan Borland, another UAP witness and Air Force veteran.
According to Chairwoman Luna: “The American people deserve maximum transparency from the federal government on sightings, acquisitions, and examinations of UAPs and whether they pose a potential threat to Americans’ safety. Whistleblowers who provide details on spending information and policies and procedures regarding the classification and declassification of UAPs should be able to do so without retribution. I look forward to hearing from witnesses on how the federal government can improve transparency and provide better answers on UAPs.”
The hearing is set for Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 10:00 AM EST in HVC-210 at the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center. It will be open to both members of the press and public with livestream access available. Press attendees are required to RSVP by Monday, September 8 at noon ET.
