U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of 10 individuals convicted of sex offenses during an enforcement operation in California’s Central Valley. The arrests took place in areas designated as sanctuary jurisdictions, where local policies limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities.
A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security commented on the operation, stating: “Thanks to the brave men and women of ICE, these sickos are off our streets. It is no surprise these criminals flock to the sanctuary state of California where politicians, like Gavin Newsom protect and allow them to roam free on our streets putting American lives at risk,” said a DHS Spokesperson. “Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, nowhere is a safe haven for criminal illegal aliens. If you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will hunt you down, arrest you, deport you, and you will never return.”
The individuals arrested include:
- Jose Ventura Gomez-Rivera from El Salvador, convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14.
- Antonia Miguel-Francisco from Mexico, convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14.
- Sithideth Aphayvong from Laos, convicted of molesting a victim under 18; Aphayvong also has multiple drug offenses and failed to update sex offender registration.
