Salvadoran man sentenced for illegal reentry after prior felony convictions

A Salvadoran national, David Cristales-Machado, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison and three years of supervised release for illegally reentering the United States after removal. The sentence was issued by Chief United States District Judge Andrew Gordan.

Court records indicate that immigration officials located Cristales-Machado in Clark County, Nevada. He had been arrested and convicted for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit on two occasions, once in October 2024 and again in January 2025. His initial deportation occurred in 2014 following prison time served for three felony convictions: two counts of attempted possession of a stolen vehicle and one count of attempted burglary.

Cristales-Machado entered a guilty plea to one count of Deported Alien Found in the United States. After completing his current sentence, he will be deported to El Salvador for a second time.

The investigation was conducted by ICE Salt Lake City, Las Vegas Sub-Office, with prosecution handled by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada.
