The United States Department of Defense and Singapore's Ministry of Defence have renewed their collaboration by signing the third installment of the Combating Terrorism Research and Development Agreement. The agreement, which now extends until March 21, 2036, is focused on developing and testing new technologies aimed at deterring and countering terrorist threats. These threats include those from near-peer adversaries.

Under the terms of the agreement, both countries will share costs equally. Oversight will be managed by the Secretariat for Special Operations within DoD's Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations/Low-Intensity Conflict (ASD(SO/LIC)).

According to a joint statement, "This agreement, in line with the United States' Interim National Defense Strategic Guidance, will help accelerate the development of capabilities on a cost-effective basis in the critical Indo-Pacific region and underscores the strong partnership between the United States and Singapore in addressing global security challenges."

The renewal highlights ongoing efforts by both nations to strengthen their cooperation on security matters in the Indo-Pacific region.
