Two St. Charles County residents indicted for allegedly harboring illegal aliens

Two residents of St. Charles County have been indicted by a grand jury on charges related to harboring individuals who are in the United States illegally. Gua Liang Ye, 56, and De Jin Ye, 56, each face one felony count of bringing in and harboring aliens. According to the indictment, both individuals concealed these people from detection while knowing their immigration status.

Both suspects were arrested Tuesday by Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI.

“A charge set forth in an indictment is merely an accusation and do not constitute proof of guilt. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty.”

If convicted, each could face up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both imprisonment and a fine.

The investigation is being conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations along with the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Dianna Edwards is prosecuting the case.
