Antoine Turner, 32, of Washington, D.C., pleaded guilty to second-degree murder while armed for the killing of Demeitri Anderson on November 29, 2020. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
The plea agreement is contingent upon court approval and calls for a prison sentence between 20 and 26 years, followed by five years of supervised release. Judge Michael Ryan accepted the factual basis for the plea and set sentencing for November 7, 2025.
According to facts presented at the plea hearing, Turner drove a rented red Nissan Versa to the 4500 block of B Street SE in Washington, D.C., around 12:30 p.m. He walked through nearby streets and entered an alley behind the BENCO shopping plaza before approaching Ken’s Beauty Supply at 4528 Benning Rd SE. At approximately 12:38 p.m., Turner approached Anderson from behind and shot him multiple times in the back of the head and body.
A police officer parked across the street witnessed the shooting and pursued Turner as he fled toward his vehicle. The officer saw Turner with an orange hood over his head and a gun in his hand as he ran past the cruiser. Turner discarded the handgun before entering his car and fleeing.
Turner has been held in custody since his arrest on December 3, 2020.
Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department joined in announcing the plea. The case was investigated by members of the Metropolitan Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrea Coronado.
