U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s San Diego Field Office has announced that northbound traffic operations at several land ports of entry will pause briefly on September 11, 2025, to mark the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. The moment of silence will take place at 5:46 a.m. Pacific time, which coincides with the time Flight 11 struck the World Trade Center's North Tower.
The San Ysidro, Otay Mesa, Tecate, and Calexico West ports of entry are included in this observance. According to CBP, "This moment of silence is dedicated to remembering and honoring those who tragically lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001." Normal operations are set to resume immediately after the ceremony.
CBP has advised travelers to plan ahead for this temporary pause and remain patient while it takes place. To assist with planning, border wait times can be monitored through the agency’s online Border Wait Times page or by downloading the CBP Border Wait Times app from the App Store or Google Play. These wait times are updated every hour.
The agency also encourages frequent international travelers to consider enrolling in a Trusted Traveler Program for expedited processing at border crossings. Information about these programs is available on the Department of Homeland Security’s official website.
