Michael Mason, 21, of Washington, D.C., pleaded guilty on September 5, 2025, to two counts of second-degree murder. The charges stem from the fatal shootings of Brea Moon in April 2020 and Antwuan Roach in May 2020. Both incidents occurred in different parts of Washington, D.C.
The plea agreement is subject to court approval and includes a recommended prison sentence ranging from 27 to 31 years, followed by supervised release. Superior Court Judge Jason Park accepted the factual basis for the plea and scheduled sentencing for October 31, 2025.
According to government evidence related to the April 2020 incident, Mason was a passenger in a stolen white vehicle that arrived at a BP gas station on Alabama Avenue SE shortly before 10:30 p.m. on April 7. Minutes later, a gray sedan carrying Brea Moon as a front-seat passenger entered the same gas station. When the gray sedan left, Mason’s vehicle followed it and then pulled up beside it. Mason fired several shots into the gray sedan, killing Moon.
In connection with the May 2020 homicide, authorities stated that Mason tracked Antwuan Roach to Anacostia Road NE just before 5:00 p.m. Roach was walking alone and unarmed when Mason’s vehicle entered an alley behind East Capitol Street Northeast. As Roach stepped into the alley, Mason shot and killed him.
