JEREMIAH MILLS, 28, of New Orleans, was indicted on August 28, 2025, on four federal charges related to armed robbery and firearm offenses. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson.
According to the indictment, MILLS is accused of committing an armed Hobbs Act robbery at a gas station in the 2700 block of S. Claiborne Avenue in New Orleans on July 17, 2025. During this incident, he allegedly used and discharged a firearm. Three days later, on July 20, 2025, MILLS reportedly attempted to rob the same location.
The indictment includes four counts: Hobbs Act Robbery; Discharging a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence; Attempted Hobbs Act Robbery; and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
If convicted on Count 1 (Hobbs Act Robbery), MILLS faces up to 20 years in prison, a fine up to $250,000, and up to three years of supervised release. For Count 2 (Discharging a Firearm), he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years up to life imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine, and at least five years of supervised release. On Count 3 (Attempted Hobbs Act Robbery), the potential penalties are up to 20 years imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine, and up to three years of supervised release. For Count 4 (Felon in Possession of a Firearm), he could receive up to fifteen years imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine, and up to three years of supervised release. A mandatory special assessment fee of $100 applies for each count.
Acting United States Attorney Simpson stated: "the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt."
This case falls under Operation Take Back America—a national initiative by the Department of Justice that combines resources from programs such as Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) and Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) with the goal of combating illegal immigration and violent crime.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation Violent Crime Task Force led the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Troy L. Bell from the Violent Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
