Daphne man sentenced to over seven years for methamphetamine trafficking

Sean P. Costello U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama

A Daphne man has been sentenced to 90 months in federal prison for his involvement in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Court records show that Robert Keith Corte, Jr., 35, was apprehended after selling methamphetamine to confidential informants on three separate occasions in September and October 2023 in Baldwin County, Alabama. Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Corte’s apartment in Daphne on October 16, 2023, where they found more than 185 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Corte admitted the drugs were his and stated he had traveled recently to Pensacola, Florida, to obtain methamphetamine for distribution in Baldwin County. Authorities also discovered numerous text messages on Corte’s cell phone related to drug sales.

At the time of his arrest, Corte was already on federal supervised release following a previous conviction for methamphetamine trafficking.

Chief United States District Judge Jeffrey U. Beaverstock imposed the sentence and ordered Corte to serve a ten-year term of supervised release after completing his prison term. During this period, Corte will be subject to drug testing and treatment as well as mental health evaluation and treatment. The court did not impose a fine but required payment of $200 in special assessments.

U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama announced the sentencing.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Roller prosecuted the case.

This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative led by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and addressing violent crime through coordinated efforts from programs such as Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
