Jasper County man receives over 17 years for methamphetamine trafficking

A Buna resident, Billy Ray Robinson, Jr., has been sentenced to 210 months in federal prison for drug trafficking offenses. The sentencing was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs and handed down by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on September 10, 2025.

Robinson, age 42, pleaded guilty to charges of distribution and possession of more than 50 grams of methamphetamine. According to court records, law enforcement received information in July 2024 indicating that Robinson was concealing methamphetamine on property near his home in Jasper County. This led authorities to seize over 2,000 grams of methamphetamine from the location.

At the time of these offenses, Robinson was under federal supervised release following a previous conviction in 2015 for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. Due to this violation, his supervised release will be revoked and he will serve an additional term of imprisonment consecutively with his new sentence.

The case was investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety - Criminal Investigations Division and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren Gaston.
