Providence man pleads guilty in federal court for cocaine trafficking

A Providence resident has pleaded guilty in federal court to trafficking cocaine, according to an announcement from Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.

Eluid Rosa-Escudero, 35, admitted to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. Sentencing is set for December 10, 2025. The sentence will be determined by a federal district judge after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

According to court documents, law enforcement conducted a three-month investigation into Rosa-Escudero’s activities. On April 10, 2025, authorities executed a search warrant at his Providence home and seized two kilograms of cocaine, $10,000 in cash, and other items linked to drug trafficking.

Prior to the search warrant execution, officers observed the retrieval of a package suspected of containing cocaine that had been delivered by the U.S. Postal Service to a Providence residence. A person arrived by car and took the package from the porch before driving to a nearby gas station where they met Rosa-Escudero in another vehicle. Law enforcement followed Rosa-Escudero back to his residence while East Providence Police stopped the car driven by the individual who retrieved the package; that person was identified as being 15 years old.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christine D. Lowell and G. Michael Seaman are prosecuting the case.

The investigation is being led by the United States Postal Inspection Service Contraband Interdiction and Investigations Task Force with support from local police departments including those in Providence, Pawtucket, and Rhode Island State Police.
