A New Mexico man has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for trafficking firearms into Connecticut, according to an announcement from David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. Timothy Gregory, 43, formerly of Questa, New Mexico, will also serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment.
Court records and statements show that an investigation by the FBI New Haven Safe Streets Gang Task Force found Gregory had offered to sell and ship firearms to a person in Connecticut who was not legally allowed to possess them. In May 2024, Gregory mailed a package containing a Glock 42 .380 caliber pistol and three magazines to Connecticut. The following month, he sent a .223 caliber AR15-style rifle and two empty 30-round magazines.
Gregory was arrested on July 18, 2024. He pleaded guilty to firearms trafficking on June 5, 2025, and has remained in custody since his arrest.
The investigation involved several agencies: the FBI New Haven Safe Streets Gang Task Force, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. The Task Force includes members from federal agencies as well as state and local police departments across Connecticut. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie T. Levick prosecuted the case.
