A federal grand jury in Toledo, Ohio has indicted three men for allegedly residing in the United States without authorization after having previously been removed from the country. The indictments charge Gabriel Raymundo-Bernal, 28, a citizen of Guatemala; Hitai Perez-Jeronimo, 27, a citizen of Mexico; and Rosendo Gomez-Santiz, 35, also a citizen of Mexico. Each man is charged with violating Title 8 U.S. Code 1326, which prohibits illegal reentry by a removed alien.

According to the charges, Raymundo-Bernal was most recently removed from the U.S. on April 4, 2019 and was found in Wood County, Bowling Green, Ohio on August 25, 2025. Perez-Jeronimo was last removed on July 29, 2016 and located in Putnam County, Ottawa, Ohio on August 7, 2025. Gomez-Santiz was previously removed on July 16, 2017 and found in Williams County, Stryker, Ohio on August 24, 2025.

The cases are unrelated and resulted from investigations conducted by the U.S. Border Patrol-Sandusky Bay Station. Prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorneys Sara Al-Sorghali and Frank H. Spryszak.

"An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law."

These cases fall under Operation Take Back America—a nationwide effort coordinated by the Department of Justice that aims to address illegal immigration and related criminal activity.
