Jalique Wiseman, a 20-year-old resident of Washington D.C., has been sentenced to 27 years in prison following a series of robberies along the Metropolitan Branch Trail. The sentencing took place in Superior Court and was announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
Wiseman pleaded guilty on May 16, 2025, to three counts of armed robbery and three counts of robbery. Judge Jennifer Di Toro presided over the case and imposed consecutive sentences—five years for each armed robbery and four years for each robbery—resulting in a total of 27 years’ incarceration. After completing his prison term, Wiseman will serve a three-year period of supervised release.
According to evidence presented by the government, Wiseman committed six separate robberies between October 2 and November 23, 2023. The incidents occurred on or near the Metropolitan Branch Trail, where Wiseman used either physical violence or threatened victims at gunpoint to steal their cell phones and other belongings. He also demanded passcodes from the victims and accessed their financial accounts to transfer funds into accounts controlled by himself and an accomplice.
Wiseman was apprehended on November 29, 2023, and has remained in custody since his arrest.
Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department joined U.S. Attorney Pirro in announcing the sentence. Both officials recognized the efforts of law enforcement officers involved in investigating the case as well as Assistant U.S. Attorney Kraig Ahalt for prosecuting it.
