The Heritage Foundation has marked the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks with a statement from Rob Greenway, director of the Allison Center for National Security. The statement reflects on the tragic events that occurred on September 11, 2001, when nearly 3,000 lives were lost in attacks at the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon, and aboard Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Greenway emphasized the courage shown by first responders who risked their lives to save others and acknowledged the efforts of armed forces and allies in seeking justice. He said: "Twenty-four years ago today, 2,977 innocent lives were lost... In the hours and days that followed the attacks, we witnessed the very best of humanity. First responders rushed toward danger to save others, and our armed forces, and those of our partners and allies, sought those responsible."

He concluded with a call to honor those who died and continue pursuing justice: "May we continue to honor the memory of those lost, the defense of our nation, and the pursuit of justice for those responsible."
