Maryland man sentenced to over 11 years for firearms and cocaine offenses

John Ryan Zajac, a 31-year-old resident of Parkville, Maryland, has been sentenced to 135 months in federal prison for firearms and cocaine-related offenses. According to court records and statements presented during proceedings, Zajac tried to exchange controlled substances for firearms using social media platforms. Authorities apprehended him during the attempted transaction, recovering both cocaine and a 9mm pistol at the scene.

Zajac is not allowed to possess firearms due to previous convictions for armed robbery and firearms violations. In addition to his prison term, he will be subject to three years of supervised release after completing his sentence.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle Kane. The Bureau for Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives led the investigation. U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh presided over the case.
