Two sentenced for firearms trafficking operation in eastern West Virginia

Two individuals have been sentenced for their involvement in a firearms trafficking conspiracy in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Marcus De’Angelo Brown, 40, from Largo, Maryland, received a sentence of 137 months in federal prison for trafficking firearms and unlawfully possessing a firearm. Matthew Blake Robinson, 28, from Hedgesville, West Virginia, was sentenced to 37 months for making a straw purchase of a firearm.

Authorities reported that Brown and Robinson collaborated to illegally buy and transfer firearms within Berkeley County and other locations. Brown was not allowed to possess firearms due to previous felony convictions.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lara Omps-Botteicher and Kyle Kane led the prosecution for the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the investigation into the case. U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh oversaw the proceedings.
