Secretary Howard W. Lutnick of the U.S. Department of Commerce led an Alaska Seafood Roundtable on September 9, 2025. The event was held with Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, members of the Alaska delegation, and fishermen from the state.
Alaska’s fisheries play a major role in the nation’s seafood industry. They provide jobs for many people including fishermen, boat captains, crew members, and technicians. The fisheries also bring significant economic benefits to both Alaska and the wider United States.
“The Trump Administration is committed to fighting for Alaska's fishing economy, keeping America’s seafood industry competitive on the global stage, and ensuring that Alaska continues to be a stalwart of U.S. growth and prosperity,” said Secretary Lutnick.
The roundtable aimed to discuss ways to support Alaska’s fishing sector so it can remain competitive internationally and continue contributing to economic growth.
