A California woman has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of a minor, according to an announcement from Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson. Jazmin McKinnie, 32, entered her plea before United States District Judge Eldon E. Fallon on September 4, 2025.
Court documents state that in May 2024, two adult men transported a fifteen-year-old girl from Houston, Texas to New Orleans with the intent for her to engage in commercial sex acts. McKinnie posted advertisements for commercial sex involving the minor victim on online classified ad websites.
McKinnie now faces up to five years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, a possible fine of $250,000, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.
Sentencing is scheduled for January 8, 2026.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at addressing child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project brings together federal, state and local resources to find and prosecute individuals who exploit children through the Internet and works to identify and rescue victims. More information about Project Safe Childhood can be found at www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson acknowledged Homeland Security Investigations and the Kenner Police Department for their efforts in investigating this case. Assistant United States Attorney Maria M. Carboni from the Public Integrity Unit is prosecuting the matter.
