P.T. Services, Inc., a Memphis-based company that repaired diesel engines, has pleaded guilty to violating the Clean Air Act. The announcement was made by Interim United States Attorney Joseph C. Murphy, Jr.

Court documents filed in the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee show that P.T. Services, Inc. altered and removed emissions control monitoring devices from diesel engines. The Clean Air Act makes it illegal to tamper with or falsify these devices.

A representative of the company entered the guilty plea before United States Magistrate Judge Charmiane Claxton. As part of a plea agreement, P.T. Services, Inc. will pay a $150,000 fine.

The investigation was conducted by agents from the Environmental Protection Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
