A Topsham resident, Christopher Tucker, 34, has been sentenced in U.S. District Court in Portland for being a felon in possession of firearms and possessing stolen firearms. U.S. District Judge Nancy Torresen handed down a sentence of 75 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Tucker entered a guilty plea on March 19, 2025.

Court documents state that in May 2024, Brunswick Police Department officers responded to a report of suspicious activity at a local residence. Officers found the garage door open with cabinets pried open and ammunition scattered inside. A vehicle matching the description from a witness was located nearby; Tucker, who owned and was alone in the vehicle, fled but was apprehended after a short search. Authorities recovered 20 firearms from his vehicle, all stolen from the same residence. Due to multiple prior felony convictions, Tucker was barred from possessing firearms.

The investigation involved the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), with assistance from the Brunswick Police Department and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

"This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. On May 26, 2021, the Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on these core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results," according to information provided about PSN.
