A Rochester man, Daniel P. Walsh, 58, has been sentenced to 97 months in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release for possession of child pornography involving prepubescent minors. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle P. Rossi stated that the case began in November 2024 when Google flagged an account linked to Walsh for containing child pornography and reported it to authorities. The Rochester Police Department and the FBI executed a search warrant at Walsh’s home, seizing multiple computers and digital devices.
A forensic review revealed that Walsh possessed more than 600 images and videos depicting child pornography, including material showing prepubescent minors engaged in sexual acts with adults and children subjected to violent sexual abuse. Investigators also found that Walsh had digitally altered some images by superimposing the faces of minors he knew onto pornographic images so it appeared they were involved in sexual acts.
The investigation was conducted by the Rochester Police Department, led by Chief David Smith, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation Task Force under Special Agent-in-Charge Phillip Tejera.
