Earlier today, federal authorities unsealed an indictment in Brooklyn charging Jordan Khammar with wire fraud and money laundering. Khammar, a former financial director at a multinational media, brand management, and consulting company, is accused of misappropriating more than $8.2 million over a ten-year period. He was arrested in Columbus, Ohio, and is scheduled to appear in federal court in the Southern District of Ohio.
The announcement was made by Joseph Nocella, Jr., United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, and Harry T. Chavis, Jr., Special Agent in Charge of IRS-Criminal Investigation New York.
“As alleged, for over a decade and on hundreds of occasions, Khammar betrayed his employer’s trust and took advantage of his access to its financial systems for personal gain,” stated United States Attorney Nocella. “This Office remains committed to seeking justice for all victims of fraud and prosecuting those who perpetrate it.”
According to the indictment, Khammar joined the company as a financial consultant in 2006 before becoming Financial Director. From January 2015 through May 2025, he allegedly used his authority over company accounts—including banking, accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll—to initiate more than 300 fraudulent wire transfers totaling over $8.2 million from the company’s bank account to himself.
Prosecutors allege that Khammar concealed his actions by manipulating records and limiting other employees’ access to financial systems. The indictment states he created more than 100 false entries in the company’s general ledger to disguise these transfers as legitimate expenses such as credit card payments or office renovations.
Much of the stolen money was transferred to Olive Tree Ventures, Inc., a business founded and controlled by Khammar. Funds from this account were then used to support various ventures including Sideswipe Media, Inc., another business owned by Khammar. Allegedly:
- $3.2 million funded Sideswipe’s payroll—including payments related to film and television productions—and included $325,000 paid directly to Khammar.
- $429,000 went toward commercial real estate rentals for offices used by Olive Tree and Sideswipe.
- $415,000 was transferred into Sideswipe’s bank account.
Khammar also reportedly used stolen funds for personal benefit: purchasing real estate in Florida and Ohio; paying off $1.2 million in personal credit card bills; making $163,000 in additional payroll payments through another company he controlled; withdrawing $135,000 in cash; and covering various expenses such as furniture purchases or travel costs.
If convicted on all charges—which remain allegations until proven—Khammar faces up to 20 years imprisonment.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jonathan P. Lax and Dana Rehnquist from the Business and Securities Fraud Section with assistance from Paralegal Specialist Liam McNett. Asset forfeiture matters are being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Claire S. Kedeshian.
Jordan Khammar is 47 years old and resides in Columbus, Ohio.
