The American Farm Bureau Federation has expressed support for a recent proposal by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) concerning renewable fuel production. The proposal aims to reallocate production lost due to small refinery exemptions, which could benefit both drivers and farmers.
Zippy Duvall, President of the American Farm Bureau Federation, said that "renewable fuels are an important tool in meeting America’s domestic energy needs." He praised the EPA's proposal as a positive move towards strengthening the Renewable Fuel Standard and emphasized the significant role farmers play in producing crops for biofuels. According to Duvall, addressing small refinery exemptions through reallocation is part of promoting energy independence with American-grown fuels.
Duvall further urged the EPA to adopt a full reallocation approach. He believes this strategy will help reduce fuel costs for consumers while simultaneously boosting economic opportunities in rural areas.
