Pittsburgh felon sentenced to over five years for illegal firearm possession

A Pittsburgh man has been sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for violating firearms laws, according to an announcement from Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

Morisee Williams, 41, of the Knoxville neighborhood in Pittsburgh, received his sentence from United States District Judge Marilyn J. Horan. The court heard that in May 2024, the FBI executed a search warrant at Williams’ home and found four firearms—two of which were stolen—along with about seven ammunition magazines, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, a firearm mount, and a rifle grip. Williams was previously convicted of a felony and is therefore barred by federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Assistant United States Attorneys Katherine C. Jordan and Kelly M. Locher handled the prosecution.

Acting United States Attorney Rivetti stated: "I commend the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Williams."

The case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation. OCDETF works to identify and dismantle high-level criminal organizations involved in drug trafficking, money laundering, gangs, and transnational crime through coordinated efforts among federal, state, and local agencies.
