Deputy Secretary of State Landau met with Kyrgyz Republic Foreign Minister Kulubaev during the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week. According to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, the discussion focused on strengthening economic ties and exploring commercial opportunities in the critical minerals sector.
Deputy Secretary Landau reiterated the importance of international support for U.S. efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Both officials agreed to enhance bilateral and regional economic cooperation through participation in the B5+1 Business Forum.
The meeting also marked plans to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the C5+1 diplomatic platform, which brings together the United States and five Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
"Both sides agreed to advance bilateral and regional economic cooperation through the B5+1 Business Forum and commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the C5+1 diplomatic platform this year, which represents the United States “plus” the five Central Asian countries (the C5 – Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan)."
