Emmitt Renand Richardson, a 52-year-old man from Detroit, Michigan, has been convicted on six charges related to methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking in West Virginia. The verdict followed a four-day federal trial in Clarksburg.
According to information presented in court, Richardson led an organization that was responsible for the illegal sale and distribution of methamphetamine in Harrison County. The charges stem from activities connected to this drug operation.
Richardson could face between five and 40 years in prison for five of the convictions, with the sixth charge carrying a maximum penalty of 20 years. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other relevant legal factors.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Andrew Cogar and Will Rhee. The investigation was conducted by the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, which is supported through HIDTA funding. Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the trial.
