Zachary A. Keller has been appointed as the United States Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana. The appointment was made by U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Mr. Keller was sworn in on September 29, 2025, in Monroe by Chief United States District Judge Terry A. Doughty. The ceremony was attended by his family, friends, law enforcement partners, and students from West Monroe High School.
“I am grateful for the honor and privilege of serving my home district in this role,” said Mr. Keller. “Together with our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, the U.S. Attorney’s Office will work tirelessly to make Louisiana a safer place to live, work, raise a family, and run a business by combatting violent crime, gangs, child predators, immigration and financial fraud, and other criminal activity.”
Mr. Keller began his career with the Department of Justice as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of Florida in 2021. He served in civil, criminal, and appellate sections before becoming Deputy Chief in the Major Crimes section. During his tenure as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, he handled cases involving firearms offenses, violence, immigration violations, drug crimes, child exploitation matters, and other federal offenses. He also worked as Project Safe Neighborhood coordinator for Major Crimes at the time of his departure from Florida.
Before joining the Department of Justice, Mr. Keller worked as a consumer protection staff attorney at the Federal Trade Commission and practiced law privately.
A native of West Monroe who attended public schools there, Mr. Keller earned his undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Louisiana State University on a full scholarship before obtaining his law degree from Yale Law School.
As U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana—which includes 42 out of Louisiana’s 64 parishes—Mr. Keller will oversee all federal criminal prosecutions and civil litigation involving the United States within this jurisdiction. He will lead approximately 70 prosecutors and staff members working out of offices located in Shreveport and Lafayette as well as Alexandria, Monroe, and Lake Charles.
