A Portland man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison after robbing a KeyBank branch with a loaded firearm. James Michael Wallace, 55, received a sentence of 151 months in prison and five years of supervised release. The court also ordered him to pay $6,437 in restitution for losses related to this and other robberies.
Court documents show that on February 28, 2025, Wallace entered the KeyBank branch on Woodstock Avenue in Portland. He pressed a loaded gun to a teller’s torso and demanded the cash drawer be opened. Wallace left the bank with $856 but left his weapon behind. At the time of the incident, he was already under federal supervision for a previous bank robbery conviction.
Wallace pleaded guilty on August 27, 2025, to one count of armed bank robbery.
The investigation was conducted by the Portland Police Bureau and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Katherine A. Rykken prosecuted the case.
