Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent met with Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko in Washington on October 14, 2025. During the meeting, Secretary Bessent reaffirmed the United States’ ongoing support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and highlighted the U.S. commitment to achieving a lasting peace.
Bessent expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Svyrydenko for her continued support of the U.S.-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund. He also noted that regular engagement between the two countries is an important aspect of their partnership.
In addition, Secretary Bessent restated the United States’ pledge to work with G7 partners to increase pressure on Russia. He emphasized the importance of European allies intensifying their efforts not only against Russia but also targeting any nation that supports Russia’s war efforts by purchasing Russian oil.
