Today, the America First Policy Institute released a statement addressing the impact of the ongoing government shutdown on air travel. Chad Wolf, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, commented on the situation, noting that delays and longer lines at airports are affecting millions of Americans.
According to Wolf, although the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) continues its operations, most of its 64,000 employees are working without immediate pay. Additionally, essential federal workers such as air traffic controllers are experiencing financial stress. This has led to increased sick-outs and ground stops, further exacerbating travel delays.
Wolf criticized lawmakers for prioritizing "taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal aliens" over resolving the shutdown. He said that political games are causing Americans to spend extra time in airport lines. He urged for an end to the shutdown and a reopening of the government to prioritize American travelers.
