The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has identified several individuals currently detained at the Broadview ICE facility in Illinois, describing them as among the most serious offenders. These detainees were arrested during Operation Midway Blitz and have been convicted of crimes such as assault with a deadly weapon, felony robbery, drug possession, and driving under the influence.
In recent weeks, protests have taken place outside the Broadview ICE facility and in Chicago. According to DHS, demonstrators have engaged in actions including assaulting law enforcement officers, using vehicles against police, throwing tear gas canisters, slashing car tires, possessing firearms during arrests, blocking facility entrances, and trespassing on private property. The department states that local police did not assist federal officers with crowd control due to sanctuary policies in effect under Governor J.B. Pritzker’s administration.
DHS reports that an activist judge has ordered the removal of a protective fence around the facility. In response to ongoing unrest, President Trump authorized deployment of the National Guard to safeguard federal law enforcement personnel and property.
“Despite incessant lies from Governor J.B. Pritzker, Broadview is housing the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens including those convicted of assault with a deadly weapon, felony robbery, drug possession, and driving under the influence,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.“These are the criminals Governor Pritzker and violent rioters want released onto Illinois streets. We won’t let this violence deter us from arresting the worst of the worst and making Illinois safe again. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, we are getting criminals off our streets and restoring law and order.”
Among those currently held at Broadview are:
- Jose Patino Juarez from Mexico: convicted of disorderly conduct; arrested for assault; facing two pending charges for assault and obstructing justice.
- Isaias Quintanilla Guzman from El Salvador: convicted of two counts of felony robbery; issued a final order of removal on February 14, 2025.
- Martin Guereca-Martinez from Mexico: convicted of assault; facing three pending charges for aggravated assault with a weapon, assault, and damage to property.
- Yuliana Gonzalez Landeros from Mexico: convicted of theft in a business setting involving more than $10,000 but less than $100,000.
- Guadalupe Leonides Caneda from Mexico: convicted of simple assault; facing two pending charges for assault and driving under the influence.
