Last week, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent met with Rachel Reeves, Chancellor to the Exchequer of the United Kingdom, in Washington. The meeting focused on coordinated international efforts in response to current geopolitical and economic challenges.
According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Secretary Bessent emphasized the Administration’s expectation that European nations take a leading role in increasing pressure on Russia, specifically through coordinated actions among G7 member states. The discussion also addressed China’s global rare earth export controls, with both officials recognizing the importance of a unified response and the need for diversified supply chains.
