Chair Joni Ernst has recognized By the Hearth Bookshop & Coffeehouse as this week’s Small Business of the Week. This recognition is part of her ongoing effort to highlight a small business in each of Iowa’s 99 counties during the current Congress.
“Since opening in 2024, By the Hearth Bookshop & Coffeehouse has been brewing more than just great coffee, it has become a real page-turner in the story of Bloomfield,” said Chair Ernst. “The Williams family has crafted a cozy, chapter-worthy space fueling ideas and strengthening community bonds that make customers feel like they’re at home.”
Joshua and Kerry Williams opened By the Hearth Bookshop & Coffeehouse after relocating to Iowa. The business offers a selection of books, stationery, gifts, and operates a coffeehouse with handcrafted drinks, sandwiches, and pizzas. The shop also organizes weekly children’s story times, book clubs, tutoring sessions, and hosts events such as weddings and baby showers in its adjoining event center. According to Chair Ernst’s office, their efforts have helped establish the shop as an important gathering place for the local community.
Chair Ernst will continue her initiative by recognizing other small businesses across Iowa with her Small Business of the Week award.
