The White House has announced a new round of nominations and withdrawals sent to the Senate for consideration. The nominations include candidates for judicial, diplomatic, law enforcement, and federal agency positions.
Among the judicial nominees are William J. Crain and Alexander C. Van Hook, both from Louisiana, who have been selected to serve as United States District Judges for the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana, respectively. Crain would replace Eldon E. Fallon, who has retired, while Van Hook would succeed Elizabeth Erny Foote, also retired.
For federal law enforcement roles, Brian Barber of Louisiana is nominated to be United States Marshal for the Western District of Louisiana for a four-year term, replacing Henry Lee Whitehorn, Sr., whose term expired. Brian Gootkin of Montana is nominated as United States Marshal for the District of Montana, succeeding Craig J. Anderson. James Stuart of Minnesota is put forward to be United States Marshal for the District of Minnesota.
Several nominations pertain to U.S. Attorney positions across various states. Gregory Gilmore is nominated for the Central District of Illinois; Thomas Govan, Jr., for the Middle District of Alabama; Kevin Holmes for the Western District of Arkansas; Ryan Raybould for the Northern District of Texas; and Phillip Williams, Jr., for the Northern District of Alabama.
Other key appointments include Brian Birdwell of Texas as Assistant Secretary of Defense and Wesley Brooks of Florida as Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs. John Breslow from Arizona is nominated to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Cyprus. Edward Eppler from Connecticut is put forward to be Chief Financial Officer at the Department of Transportation.
Gregory LoGerfo from Massachusetts has been selected to serve as Coordinator for Counterterrorism with the rank and status of Ambassador at Large.
The administration also notified the Senate about two nomination withdrawals: Jeffrey Bornstein’s nomination to be Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller), originally sent on May 6, 2025, and Kevin O’Farrell’s nomination to be Assistant Secretary for Career, Technical, and Adult Education at the Department of Education, sent on February 11, 2025.
