The U.S.-Republic of Korea (ROK) Business Travel and Visa Working Group held its second meeting virtually on October 21. The session was co-chaired by Jonathan Fritz, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, and Jung Kihong, Ambassador and Government Representative for Korean Nationals Overseas Protection and Consular Affairs.

During the meeting, both countries highlighted the importance of making it easier for Korean investments to enter the United States. They also discussed the need to support the legitimate travel of Korean workers, which helps facilitate these investments and allows for the training of American workers. The United States and ROK confirmed their ongoing commitment to working together on these issues.

"The United States strongly supports investment that drives American reindustrialization, strengthens the U.S.-ROK alliance, and enhances our shared prosperity. The U.S. Government continues to work closely with its ally to advance the U.S.-ROK trade and investment partnership, including by processing visas for eligible ROK visitors to continue investing in America in compliance with U.S. laws. The reindustrialization of America delivers on President Trump’s America First policy and provides great jobs for American workers," according to the statement from the meeting.

The U.S. continues to process visas for eligible South Korean visitors, aiming to ensure that investment and training efforts align with U.S. regulations.
