A Portland woman, Temika Gardner, 40, appeared in federal court following charges of assaulting federal officers. The incident occurred on October 23, 2025, when Immigration and Customs Enforcement Deportation Officers were making a lawful arrest. Gardner allegedly interfered with the officers as they tried to escort the arrestee, repeatedly placing her hands on them to impede their movement.

According to court documents, Gardner struck one officer in the face, removed his face covering, and threw it to the ground. She also swung at a second officer twice, knocking off his sunglasses. While officers were focused on the arrestee, Gardner reportedly pulled the face mask of a third officer with enough force to pull him back. She was arrested after swinging at a fourth officer and striking him on the left side of his jaw.

Gardner made her initial appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge and was released pending further proceedings. The case is under investigation by Homeland Security Investigations and is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.

A criminal complaint is only an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
