Buddy Hughes, chairman of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), has expressed support for Joe Gormley as president of Ginnie Mae. In a statement, Hughes said:
“Joe Gormley is uniquely qualified to serve as president of Ginnie Mae and NAHB urges the Senate Banking Committee to move quickly to advance his nomination to the Senate floor. Mr. Gormley has had senior roles at HUD and has effectively led Ginnie Mae as its executive vice president and chief operating officer since April. With his extensive experience in financial services and housing policy, Mr. Gormley is the ideal candidate to lead Ginnie Mae and maintain confidence and liquidity in the secondary mortgage market.”
Gormley has held leadership positions at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and has been serving as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Ginnie Mae since April 2025.
