U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of several individuals described as criminal illegal aliens over the weekend. According to ICE, those arrested had been convicted of crimes such as unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, sexual abuse, kidnapping, homicide, robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault, and other offenses.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated: “Despite the Democrats’ government shutdown, ICE is continuing to arrest criminal illegal aliens across the country. While Americans enjoyed their weekends, ICE was hard at work getting the worst of the worst off our streets—including pedophiles, murderers, and kidnappers. 70% of all ICE arrests are of illegal aliens charged or convicted of a crime in the U.S. President Trump and Secretary Noem unleashed ICE to remove the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens from American communities.”
The agency listed several individuals arrested during this operation:
- Hector Eugenio Ramirez-Martinez from Honduras was convicted for indecency with child sexual contact in Harris County, Texas.
- Sisawang Khambounheuang from Laos was convicted for unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor in San Diego, California.
- Miguel Murueta-Galvan from Mexico was convicted for third-degree sexual abuse in Polk County, Iowa.
- Milton Rene Mendez-Arevalo from Guatemala was convicted for kidnapping in Los Angeles, California.
- Francisco Nava-Garcia from Mexico was convicted for assaulting a family or household member in Houston, Texas.
- Justin Omer Kaningini from Democratic Republic of Congo was convicted for robbery and sexual assault in Jefferson County, Kentucky.
- Jonnathan Ocampo-Marquez from Honduras was convicted for attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon in Duplin County, North Carolina.
- Juan Brito-Rios from Mexico was convicted for possession with intent to distribute heroin and cocaine as well as money laundering in Tennessee’s Middle District Court.
- Lazaro Mateo Ruiz from Cuba was convicted for homicide involving a firearm and robbery in Miami Dade County, Florida.
- Brigidio Ovido Gomez Garcia from Guatemala was convicted for aggravated domestic battery/strangulation and driving under the influence in Wheaton, Illinois.
- Wilson Campos from Brazil was convicted for simple assault in Little Falls Township, New Jersey.
- Kunal Chhetri from India was convicted for alien smuggling by the United States District Court in Western District of Texas.
- Michael Steven Arevalo-Suarez from Colombia was convicted for burglary in Ventura, California.
- Juan Gomez-Gutierrez also from Colombia was convicted on conspiracy charges related to drug distribution while aboard a vessel near Tampa, Florida.
- Ricardo Rafael Cordoba-Bolivar from Venezuela was convicted for retail theft in Cook County, Illinois.
ICE reports that 70% of its arrests involve non-citizens who have been charged or found guilty of crimes within the United States.
