President Donald J. Trump has instructed the Department of Justice to investigate major meat packing companies in the United States. The investigation will focus on allegations of collusion, price fixing, and price manipulation among these companies, which are largely controlled by foreign interests.
The administration’s move is a response to concerns that these conglomerates have been artificially raising prices, negatively affecting farmers, ranchers, and American families.
“It’s time to protect AMERICAN CONSUMERS,” President Trump stated.
He added: “President Trump will ALWAYS have the backs of our Great American Farmers.”
The decision comes amid ongoing debates about the influence of foreign-owned firms in critical sectors of the U.S. food supply chain and their impact on domestic producers and consumers.
