Amazon is participating in the fifth annual Operation Green Light for Veterans by illuminating over 200 sites and buildings across the United States in green from November 4 to 11. This initiative, led by the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO), aims to honor veterans, active-duty service members, military families, and their supporters.

Matthew Chase, NACo Executive Director, emphasized the importance of this gesture: "Operation Green Light is an opportunity to thank veterans for both their service to our nation and their contributions to our communities." He added that with numerous counties participating by lighting up various structures like courthouses and bridges, they hope veterans will feel appreciated for their selflessness and courage. Chase also expressed gratitude towards Amazon for its support in honoring those who have served.

At Amazon's HQ2, this effort highlights the company's commitment as a responsible employer and community member. The employee-led group Warriors at Amazon plays a significant role in this initiative. With more than 6,500 members in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area alone, they embody a spirit of service that extends beyond military duty.

David Sopczak, president of Warriors at Amazon, remarked on the significance of Operation Green Light: "What makes Operation Green Light powerful isn't just the color; it's the connection." He noted that Amazon's Warriors network consists of over 600 chapters and 20,000 members globally who unite employees through gratitude and purpose. Sopczak expressed appreciation for every veteran, family member, and ally supporting the military community.

The full name of Amazon's division involved is Amazon Web Services (AWS).
