CFTC announces resumption of Commitments of Traders reports after shutdown delay

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced it will resume publishing its Commitments of Traders (COT) reports on Wednesday, following a pause caused by a lapse in federal government appropriations. The agency also released an updated schedule for the release of reports that were delayed during the interruption.

Starting Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time, the CFTC will begin publishing the missed reports in chronological order. The first report to be released will cover data from September 30, which was originally scheduled for publication on October 3. In order to address the backlog, the CFTC plans to increase its publication frequency so that all delayed reports are released by January 23.

According to the CFTC, "This schedule is consistent with prior post-shutdown publishing. The revised publication schedule is below and will be updated as necessary. Check CFTC.gov for the most up-to-date information."

After January 23, the regular reporting schedule is expected to resume.

The COT report provides important information about market positions held by different types of traders and is closely watched by market participants.
