Senator Ted Cruz appoints Ken Lee as new chief counsel

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has promoted Ken Lee to the position of Chief Counsel in his Washington, D.C. office. Lee joined Senator Cruz’s staff in May 2024 and previously served as Senior Counsel.

Lee is originally from Hawaii and graduated from the University of Southern California. He also holds a law degree from the University of Chicago Law School. Before joining Senator Cruz’s team, Lee clerked for the Fifth Circuit and worked in private practice.

Senator Cruz has held his seat since first winning election in 2012, when he defeated Paul Sadler with 56.5% of the vote compared to Sadler's 40.6%. In subsequent elections, Cruz won against Beto O'Rourke in 2018 with 50.9% to O'Rourke's 48.3%, and most recently defeated Colin Allred in 2024 by a margin of 53.1% to Allred's 44.6%.
