St. Louis County man pleads guilty to armed carjacking targeting elderly victim

A St. Louis County man has pleaded guilty to charges related to a carjacking that targeted a 72-year-old victim in 2023.

Kirk Hall, 24, admitted in court on Wednesday to one count of carjacking and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. According to his plea, Hall was one of two men involved in the theft of a BMW X5 on July 7, 2023. The incident occurred shortly before 1:00 a.m., when the victim parked at an apartment complex in St. Louis County. Hall and another armed individual ordered both the driver and passenger out of the vehicle. The second gunman then drove away with the BMW, also taking the driver's cell phone and other personal belongings. Hall left the scene in another vehicle. Authorities later found the stolen BMW unoccupied several hours after the incident.

Hall is scheduled for sentencing on February 18, 2026. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison for the firearm charge, which must be served consecutively to any sentence imposed for carjacking. The carjacking offense carries a potential penalty of up to 15 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both.

The case was investigated by the St. Louis County Police Department and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nichole Frankenberg.
